FileZilla

FileZilla is a free, open source FTP client that allows you to easily and quickly connect to our server via FTPES (FTP over Explicit SSL). Download FileZilla Client for free at http://filezilla-project.org/

Connect to your site with FileZilla via FTP over SSL

  1. Open FileZilla and enter your connection details in the top line (quickconnect).
  2. Under Hostname, you enter FTPES://xxx.terrassl.net (replace with actual servername) where servername is the actual server name.
  3. Username is your cPanel/FTP username
  4. Password is your cPanel/FTP password
  5. Port is 21
  6. to connect, click Quickconnect button
  7. When prompted, confirm to “Always trust the certificate”
  8. You should then be successfully connected to your site.
  9. On the right side, click on /public_html/ where you can find all your site's files

If connection fails, check that you are prefacing the hostname with FTPES:// (FTP or FTPS will not work).

The main cPanel/FTP user can also access the server via SSH, a secure method of logging into the server and transferring files. Please note that if any additional FTP users were set up via cPanel, then these would not have SSH privileges. Using SSH for file transfer with FileZilla is easy - it's basically the same as with FTP, just the login is slightly different.
